Elder, Contract Specialist, Facilities, Construction, Commodities & Equipment, 770-488-2654 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to purchase a Duplex Water Softener and Filter, generally described as follows: WATER SOFTENER: Description: Multimedia downflow vessel filter. Factory-assembled, pressure-type fully automatic, back washing units. Design Service Flow Rate -- 113 GPM; Design Linear Velocity -- 12.0 GPM; Max Flow Rate: 160 GPM; Estimated Throughput: 611,000 gallons @ 10 lbs NaC1/cubic feet. Configuration: Duplex unit with two softener tanks and one brine tank. Softener Tanks: Steel, electric-welded, pressure-vessel quality, with white epoxy phonolic liner. Distribution Systems: Upper and Lower distribution shall be hub and radial-arm type, fabricated of PVC. Controls: Programmable, solid-state LEDs factory mounted on units in a FRP/NEMA-4X rated enclosure and with factory-wired controls. Services valves shall be industrial, automatic, rack and pinion type with dual action (air to open, air to close), slow, nonslam operation, butterfly valves. WATER FILTER: Description: Multimedia downflow vessel filter, Factory-assembled, pressure-type, fully automatic, backwashing units. Configuration: Single filter tank, skid-mounted. Tank: Carbon Steel, electric-welded with continuous butt-welds for all joints, pressure-vessel quality. Pressure Rating 100psig. Exterior finish sprayed with rust-resistent epoxy coating over commercial sandblasted surface preparation. Interior to hav white metal surface preparation. Liner: Polyethylene, ABS, 12-15 mil think White Epoxy, or other material suitable for potable water. Distribution Systems: Upper AND lower distribution shall be hub and radial-arm type, fabricated from Schedule 80 PVC pipe and fittings. Controls: Programmable, solid-state, factory mounted on units in NEMA rated enclosure and factory-wired cycle controls. Design Flow Rate: 125 pgm. Design Linear Velocity: 8 -- 15 gpm per sq. ft. Filter Media will have minimum three layer bed, designed to operate as a depth filter rather than a surface filter. Minimum three year warranty from date of installation and commissioning.
