Cleveland, Dept. of Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking
Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for schematic
drawings, design development through complete construction documents,
to renovate and prepare space for the new Daycare Centers at the
Brecksville and Wade Park facilities. Renovation of the existing space
will be minimal to accommodate a Daycare Center that meets all local
codes for this type of occupancy, Also, an outdoor playground for both
units shall be included. Renovations includes, but is not limited to
the renovation of restrooms, appropriate for Daycare, removal of
existing flooring and replace with carpeting, repainting of main rooms
and all attached small rooms, replace all ceiling tiles, clean and
paint ceiling grid and HVAC diffusers. VAMC shall select finishes and
colors. Selected A/E firm shall have principle qualifications in design
and construction of playgrounds and playground equipment. A/E firm must
meet all local, state and federal regulations for the specific type of
work listed herein. In accordance with Public Law 600-656, this
acquisition is not restricted to small or emerging-small businesses.
Standard Industrial Code 8712 Architectural Services applies to this
acquisition. Interested firms shall respond to this ad by Submitting
four (4) copies of the Standard Forms 254 and 255 to the Contract
Specialist listed above. These forms are available electronically at:
http://www.gsa.gov.forms. Responses are due by 4:30 p.m. local time on
May 22, 2000. Faxed or electronic submittals will not be accepted. A
short list minimum of three (3) Architect/Engineer firms will be
selected based on the firms submission to this advertisement. The
design firm shall provide specific evidence of it's capabilities to
deliver design excellence and will express it's design approach and
philosophy. If the design firm is a partnership, corporation,
association or other legal entity, the proposed working and legal
relationships between it's components shall be briefly described. The
design firm will also identify it's lead designer for this project.
Architect/Engineer firms shall be evaluated in the following order: 50
points-Team proposed for this project; 50 points-Previous experience
of the team proposed for the project; 50 points-Proposed design
approach for this project; 30 points-Location and facilities working
offices; 50 points-Cost control; 50 points- Estimating effectiveness;
50 points-Schedule control. From the short list, each
Architect/Engineer firm will be interviewed and selection of one (1)
