R -- PROFESSIONA, ADMINISTRATIVE, AND MANAGEMENT SUPPORT SERVICES SOL RFQ-NCI-00118 DUE 053100 POC Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent, 301-402-4509, Gail Zois, Contracting Officer The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute(NCI) plans to procure services with the NCI's planning efforts from Suzanne Reuben, Progressive Health System, 9105 Paddock Lane, Potomac, MD 20854. The services will include the preparation of the annual strategic plan and budget document, The Nation's Investment in Cancer Research, for publication as a print document and on the World Wide Web. Included in this and other documents prepared are reports on scientific accomplishments, the status of current research in specific or broad areas of cancer, and future plans for scientific research. An experienced science writer who has an understanding of the research activities of the NCI through a broad range of experiences in developing documents for a variety of cancer-related programs and for a variety of audiences is required. This experience includes work on the Bypass Budgets for Fiscal Years 1997 through 2001 development of the final report to the NCI Breast Cancer Progress Review Group which was a major component of the report on the NCI's women's health activities, work as a writer for the President's Cancer Panel since 1993, and serving as writer for the report of the President's Cancer Panel Special Commission on Breast Cancer. These unique experiences with writing in cancer-related areas are critical to the specialized reports required by the Office of Science Planning and Assessment. No other currently available science writer is as well qualified for this work as Suzanne Reuben. Ms. Reuben's experience in working with the office and on the past efforts included in this notice makes her uniquely qualified to meet the needs of this office for science writing, editing, and research assistance. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes it can provide the above service, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain materialin sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can perform the requirement.
