On or about 24 May 2000, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Jones Bay Archeological Site bank Stabilization, Oahe Dam-Lake Oahe, SD. Bids will be opened on or about 23 June 2000. This solicitation is restricted to small business participation. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Work consists of protecting approx. 3600 LF of shoreline form erosion. The project will require placement of approx. 8000 SY of geotextile fabric and 16,000 tons of riprap protection. The work will also include constructing an access road into the site. The access road work will be primarily minor grading however does include crossing a dry bay (lake bed) for approx. 1000 LF. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $250,000 and $500,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 90 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
