99 -- LEACHABLE CORE SOL N00167-00-Q-0344 DUE 052600 POC Ray Park, Contracting Officer, 301-227-1121 FAX 301-227-1847 The Carderock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center has a requirement for three leachable cores to be produced from refractory core material suitable for withstanding metal casting pouring temperatures of 2150 F and have adequate removability from the solidified casting. The room temperature rupture strength of the cores should be between 1000psi and 2000psi. The strength and porosity of the cores shall be selected and controlled during processing so as to be removable from the casting by hydro blasting at 9000psi or lower,i.e. 80% Silicon Oxide, 20% Zirconium Oxide, nominal composition.
