COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MAY 15,2000 PSA#2600Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (CDC), Procurement & Grants
Office, 2920 Brandywine Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30341-4146 A -- ANTHRAX VACCINE RESEARCH PROGRAM SOL 2000-N-00065 DUE 071300 POC
Lorenzo J. Falgiano, Section III, MS K-70, 770-488-2629 The Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates multiple awards for
contracts to conduct one or more studies of the anthrax vaccine; the
CDC is has been tasked by congress to also study the safety and
efficacy of vaccines used against biological agents; this multi-site,
multi-study anthrax vaccine research project will involve humans and/or
animal subjects. The data obtained from these studies will possibly
support changes in the route of vaccine administration and possibly
reduce the number of doses in the currently recommended anthrax
vaccination series. The studies would specifically address (1) the risk
factors for adverse events between men and women; (2) determining
immunological correlates of protection and documenting vaccine
efficacy, and (3) optimizing the vaccination schedule and
administration to assure efficacy while minimizing the number of doses
required and the occurrence of adverse events. Additional information
surrounding human, animal and immunologic research is needed to
specifically address items (2) and (3) above and these studies are
expected to serve as a scientific basis for decisions regarding changes
in the route of vaccination administration and provide a scientific
platform for development of new vaccines for anthrax. The period of
performance will vary between the studies from 40 months to sixty
months; the studies will be incrementally funded based upon the
government's availability of funds for each fiscal year. The schedule
issue date is approximately May 24, 2000. No telephone requests will be
accepted; only written requests for this solicitation will be honored.
Requests should site RFP Number 2000-N-00065. All responsible sources
that meet the above requirements may submit a proposal which shall be
considered by the Agency. Posted 05/11/00 (W-SN454052). (0132) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0004 20000515\A-0004.SOL)
