(202) 287-3238 The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals for
construction of the National Air & Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy
Center, on a site adjacent to the Dulles International Airport in
Chantilly, Virginia. This center will serve as a second exhibition
space in addition to the existing facility in Washington DC and replace
the present restoration facility in Silver Hill, Maryland. The work
will be accomplished as set forth on the drawings for OPP Project No.
955301, Volumes 1-9 sheets 1 thru 1585 and in accordance with the
specifications contained in Volumes 1 thru 5 both dated March 31, 2000
pages 1 through 3555. The complex will be comprised of the following
elements: Entryway, Public Amenities, Large Format Theater, Observation
Tower, Main Exhibit hangar, Space Hanger, Restoration Hangar,
Restoration Shops, Study Collection and Archives, Central Utility
Plant, Support Facilities and the Gatehouse. The work includes, but is
not limited to sitework, earthwork, underground utilities, excavation,
drainage, hardscape, landscape, foundation ssystem, poured-in-place
concrete, structural steel, framing; hangar doors, roofing systems,
waterproofing, insulation, air/vapor barriers; structural sealant
glazing, museum quality architectural systems, materials, and finishes;
elevators; mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, fire protection
(detection and suppression) systems; security system;
telecommunications, audio/visual and theater systems; furniture,
furnishings, equipment, graphics, and signage; and other items and
systems as indicated on the drawings and specifications. Copies of the

using the following weighted factors as described in the RFP; Plan of
Accomplishment (20) Points, Key Personnel and Subcontractors (10)
Points, Firm's Experience, Past Performance (20) Points and Schedule of
Values and Contract Price (50) Points. The RFP is available at this
time. The Estimated Price Range for this project is between
