This is a Request for Information: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a requirement to disseminate hurricane forecasts, warnings and associated information over the Internet for the protection of life and property. While not the official source of forecasts and warnings, over the past several years, the public, local governments, and affected businesses have come to increasingly use the Internet as a key information portal. NOAA has the capacity to provide routine information dissemination, but does not maintain capacity sufficient for all possible peak loads. NOAA therefore seeks a web hosting service to support peak demands with security, reliability and redundancy features sufficient to assure information delivery throughout hurricane events. NOAA anticipates relatively low usage during most months with peak usage (transfer up to 150 GB/day with intra-day bandwidth of 30 Mbps) to coincide with the peak of the hurricane season. NOAA is requesting information on Contractors abilities to provide web hosting services. It is anticipated that award will be made via simplified acquisition procedures (less than $100,000) or delivery order against GSA Schedule.
