The Air Force is conducting a market survey to identify sources of a bromobutyl rubber-coated, nylon rip-stop material that meets our requirements. The nylon rip-stop material should be manufactured in accordance with MIL-C-7020H ("Cloth, parachute, nylon-rip stop and twill weave"), cloth type III. The bromobutyl rubber-coated nylon material is needed for use in chemical/biological protective masks for aircrew. It should be capable of preventing HD and GD chemical warfare agent vapors from breaking through it for 16 hours or more. Chemical warfare agent challenge concentrations in testing are 10 micrograms/liter for GD, and 20 micrograms/liter for HD, with maximum allowable breakthrough concentrations of 0.01 micrograms/cm2 for GD and 0.16 micrograms/cm2 for HD. The intent of this announcement is to identify possible sources for procurement of future items. U.S. and foreign firms interested in being considered for future procurements should submit, in writing, a description of their product and how it fulfills the above requirements. The government will not pay for any material provided or monies spent in response to this synopsis, and will not return the data provided. This announcement is a request for information only and is not a request for proposal (RFP) or announcement of solicitation. Responses are required within fourteen days after publication of this notice. All responding companies will be contacted and may be requested to meet with Air Force personnel to exchange information.
