053100 POC Carla M. Perez, Purchasing Specialist, 202-268-2414 E-MAIL:
VARS/PFT System Interface, cperez02@email.usps.gov. The US Postal
Service (USPS) intends to pre-qualify one or more vendors to contract
with to develop, design and build a system interface which will allow
our model PBSM-624 self-service vending equipment to interface with our
VARS/PFT* server system quickly, efficiently and securely. The system
interface must provide TCP/IP protocol communications, as well as dial
communications capability. In supporting multiple protocols, the
design must be scalable. The VARS/PFT system will support machine
set-up, debit & credit card processing, machine data collection,
acknowledgement, accounting data, servicing alert functions as well as
authentication and encryption for vending machines. Over time, the
USPS will convert up to 6,000 model PBSM 624 machines to interface with
the VARS/PFT platform. The system interface must meet Postal Standards.
Potential vendors must demonstrate that they have expertise in data
communications, debit & credit card authorizations and data encryption
in self-service terminals. Vendors must also show that they have
operated a business in this field for a minimum of 5 years and that
their company is financially stable and profitable. Interested parties
should respond in writing by May 31, 2000 with evidence of their
experience in the above mentioned fields as well as their business
history and financial condition. *VARS/PFT = Vending Activity Reporting
