28 -- IXM HOMOCYSTEINE (REAGENT) ASSAY KITS SOL 2000N00090 DUE 062900 POC Grace White, Contract Specialist, Facilities, Construction, Commodities & Equipment, 770-488-2699 The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC)/National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH) intends to award a sole source requirements contract to Abbott Diagnostics Division, Abbott Laboratories, Abbott Park, IL, for purchase of IMX Homocysteine Reagents Assay Kits for the "Fourth National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey" project (NHANES IV). The resulting contract will also include a requirement to provide one IMX analyzer instrument, including service and/or replacement of that instrument as needed. The contract will be for a one year period with options to extend four additional years. The proposed action is a follow-on contract. The Abbott assay kits have been used since NHANES IV started in 1999, and must be used throughout the survey in order to maintain analytical continuity and avoid introduction of a methodological bias in the NHANES data. The proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice. This notice of intent is for information purposes only; it is not a request for competitive proposals, and no solicitation document is available. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
