Prevent bird activity in hangar 262 by installing netting to the undersides of the structural members, eliminating safety and health hazards from the hangar. Installation of the netting shall be in accordance with manufacturer_s recommendations including the following: The bird netting shall be polypropylene with 12_ x 12_ grid, ultra-violet light stabilized, and black in color. When long unsupported pieces of netting are unavoidable or the netting has to be installed horizontally, beneath structural members, the net shall not sag. Where seams are necessary, netting shall overlap at least 16 cm and be fastened together by sewing or using the manufacturer_s recommended method in a staggered manner to prevent wrinkles or gaps in the seams. Lighting fixtures and other critical equipment, which are mounted above the structural members, shall have access panels installed in the bird netting to allow for maintenance. The entire installation shall be clean and secure with no gaps or sags and shall follow thecontour of the underside of the structural members. One half of the hangar will be released to the contractor at a time for installation to minimize hangar down time. Solicitation will be released on 17 May 00.
