dated 1 May 2000 add the following. (1) The Marine Corps has
approximately 200 cranes in its inventory to be converted. (2) The
successful contractor is required to perform a complete basic
conversion on one crane to the upper and lower cab air condition
systems. Marine Corps maintenance personnel will modify the cranes. (3)
The Marine Corps shall provide a work area aboard Marine Corps
Logistics Base (MCLB), Albany GA or MCLB, Barstow, CA for the
contractor to conduct the conversion. (4) The contractor shall be
responsible for all environmental issues related to the conversion
efforts to include the disposal of the R12 refrigerant removed from the
prototype vehicle. The Marine Corps will be responsible for vehicles
they convert. (5) The contractor shall provide all service tools
required for the conversion. The Conversion Kits shall not include
R134A refrigerant, refrigerant oil or service equipment. The only
service equipment that is provided is the air condition service fitting
required by the conversion. (6) The contractor shall provide 200
conversion kits to the MCLB, Albany GA. within 60 days after the
successfully basic conversion. Kits shall be packaged as individual
kits. The prototype conversion should be completed within 30 days of
contract award. (7) A standard commercial warranty on parts is
required, 30 days warranty on prototype converted vehicle. (8) The
lower cab system is a common configuration system to motor vehicles.
The upper cab system is somewhat different and some data is available.
There is no technical data such as head/suction pressures available
for either system. (9) The Government shall make available one
operational crane to the contractor for prototyping of the R134A basic
conversion. (10) Site visits by offorers is permitted. Arrangement for
those visits shall be made through James Adams, Marine Corps Logistics
Bases, Albany, GA. Commercial Phone 912-439-6533/6597. (11) Vehicles
are about 12 years old. Mileage/hours range from 71 miles/30 hours to
