PHD NSWC ACQUISITION REFORM WEEK VI The enormous success of Acquisition Reform Week IV-1999 has prompted Dr. Jacques Gansler, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology to stay steady on course and declare the week of 22 May DOD's Acquisition & Logistics Reform Week V. This year's theme is "Embracing Change for the 21st Century Warfighter -- Anything's Possible". The objective of this event is to give both Government and Industry an opportunity to focus on Acquisition & Logistics Reform Initiatives, to share implementation successes and to determine how we can apply them to our mission. The events will be held at the Naval Sea Systems Command, Port Hueneme Division, Surface Warfare Center (PHD NSWC), Bldg 1388 Auditorium from 0800-1200 each day and will include Dam Neck, Louisville and San Diego detachments as participants via interactive video/audio Video Teleconference. PHD NSWC has scheduled a variety of events for the acquisition community. Attendance is open to all civilians, military, and contractor personnel. Participation of the entire acquisition workforce community, as well as our local navy community (SLC, NAVFAC, NFESC, NFCTC, and NAWC), industry partners, DAWIA Acquisition Workforce members and anyone whose job support acquisition are encouraged to attend. For DAWIA certified workforce members, attendance at this annual event satisfies requirements set forth under the DoD "Reform Through Learning Policy on Continuous Learning for the Acquisition Workforce.". Conference Moderator for 23 May is CAPT Michael Erno and will feature such topics as "Shipboard Systems and Commercial Items, Applying Lessons Learned"; "Ethical Possibilities -- Guidelines to Partnering" and "Innovative Contracting -- Paperless Contracting". Conference Moderator for 24 May is Mr. James J. Vallas and will feature topics on "Business Process Re-Engineering"; "High Performance Computing Center"; "Innovative Commercial Contracting Strategy" and "Acquisition Reform From an Industry Perspective".
