The U. S. Postal Service is soliciting proposals to construct a new +/-
8,000 sf carrier annex on Lot 29A on Adams Rd. in Greenfield, MA. Work
includes, but is not limited to, demolition, earthwork, site utilities
and site improvements, paving, landscaping; concrete foundations and
slab-on-grade; prefabricated metal building including steel frames,
metal roofing and metal siding; masonry, metal stud partitions
insulation, gypsum board walls and ceilings; acoustical ceilings,
resilient flooring; custom cabinets and fixtures; plumbing; electrical;
HVAC; signage; loading dock equipment; fire alarm and security systems,
and all associated work. The estimated cost of the work is between
$600,000.00 and $1,200,000.00, with completion within two hundred ten
(210) calendar days after receipt of notice to proceed. Sealed offers
will be received in this office prior to, but no later than, 4:00 p.m.
on June 16, 2000. Offers will not be publicly opened. The number of
offers received, the identity of the offerors, the amount of any offer,
or relative standing of the offerors WILL NOT BE DISCLOSED TO ANYONE
until award of contract is made. Proposal documents, plans and
specifications will be available o/a May 18, 2000 at a cost of $75.00
per set (non-refundable) from the Facilities Service Office, U. S.
Postal Service, 6 Griffin Road North, Windsor, CT 06006-0300. Only
certified checks or money orders will be accepted, made payable to the
Disbursing Officer, U. S. Postal Service (Reference Solicitation No.
082530-00-A-0099). Plans may be inspected at the issuing office and
information regarding their availability may be obtained by contacting
Catherine Delasco at (860) 285-7191. Questions concerning the
technical aspects of the proposal should be directed to Steve Richards,
USPS Project Manager, at (860) 285-7139 or Mark Tamaccio of
Clarke-Tamaccio Architects at (860) 233-6238. There will be a
preproposal conference for this project on Wednesday, May 31, at the
Reduce, Reuse & Recycle Center at 616 Dwight St. in Springfield, MA.
Prospective offerors are encouraged to attend. Guidelines for project
requirements are outlined in the specifications. The successful offeror
will be required to submit a 100% performance bond and 40% payment bond
before award of contract is made. This is not a formal invitation for
