ADDITIONS TO ORIGINAL SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE PREVIOUSLY POSTED IN CBD NOTICE DATED APRIL 19, 2000 Regardless of the responses provided below on questions asked by interested firms it is important to understand that your responding to a Sources Sought not a solicitation. The Government is seeking potential sources for an Off-The-Shelf (OTS) communications control system to meet the needs described in the sources sought CBD announcement dated April 19, 2000. 1. Can we provide demonstrations? Answer: As stated in CBD announcement, vendors may be asked to provide an SSC-SD defined demonstration at the vendor's location, at no cost to the government, resulting in a report back to the vendor regarding the findings of the demonstration. 2. How many operators, i.e., people monitoring the communication in a fixed location, do you anticipate? Answer: A minimal number of operators are anticipated. This, for example, may be accomplished by existing personnel at a control center or 1-2 personnel for a mobile system. 3. How many radios will be used at one time? Answer: For informational purposes, how many radios can the vendor's system interface at a time? For purposes of a vendor demonstration, 6-12 radios interfaced simultaneously would be sufficient. 4. Are external phone connections required, i.e., will outgoing PBX lines be used? Answer: Yes 5. How many voice recorder channels are anticipated? Answer: At least one would be desirable, but not required for the purposes of this request for information. 6. Is redundancy circuitry required, i.e., mission critical communications? Answer: Not required for purposes of this request for information, but may be a consideration. 7. Is secure (red) communications required? Answer: Desirable, but not required for the purposes of this request for information. 8. Do you want CRT or button & LED position control? Note: Question was not understood. Please respond in the spirit of a "Sources Sought". 9. Are there any door locks and/or alarm monitoring around the dispatch center to interface? Answer: Not being considered at the present time, but may be a future consideration. 10. Would ANI (Automatic Number Identification) be a requirement to show field users ID? Answer: A desirable feature, but not necessarily required for the purposes of this request for information. Closing date of this announcement is extended to May 31, 2000.
