The Department of Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, has a requirement for Broadband Seismometers. THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS / SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN SUBPART 12.6,AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. Proposals are requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This is Request for Proposals No. 00WRSS0007. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular No. 97-15. Standard Industrial Classification is 3829. Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees. CLIN 0001 -- 11 each: Broadband Seismometers with the following minimum specifications:(1) Three-component(2 horizontal,1 vertical).(2) Velocity response flat from 50s to 50Hz ( 3dB).(3) High acceleration clipping level greater than or equal to 0.1g at 10Hz).(4) For the frequency range of 0.05 -- 20 Hz, the self-noise of the instrument must be less than the USGS "High Noise Model" as specified in Peterson, Jon R. (U. S. Geological Survey, United States), Observations and modeling of seismic background noise, OF 93-0322, p. 94, illus., 32 refs, 1993. Also, at any given frequency within this band the self-noise must be 120dB less than the clipping level at that frequency with respect to acceleration. Evidence must be provided with offer that current generation of instruments (not a predecessor) has been submitted to and independently tested by the USGS Albuquerque Seismological Laboratory. (5) All instruments must be in production at time of award. (6) Remote control centering through break-out box.(7) Differential output proportional to velocity; sensitivity 500 V/m/s.(8) Operating voltage 12 VDC with power consumption less than or equal to 2W at 12VDC.(9) Operating temperature range of -10 to 60 C. (10) Parasitic mechanical resonance 140Hz on vertical component. CLIN 0002 -- 11 each: Breakout Boxes with Connectors and 5 meter cable.
