be accepted for the Gateway National Recreation Area Project PRA-GATE
60(1), 61(1) in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The project consists of
the reconstruction of Hartshorne Drive from South Beach Area C to the
South Maintenance Area. The work includes embankment construction,
geotextiles, roadway obliteration, placement of aggregate base and hot
asphalt concrete pavement, pavement milling, pavement striping, and
other work. Approximate quantities for the principal items of work are
as follows: Construction Survey and Staking, LPSM; Contractor Testing,
LPSM; Embankment Construction, 7,000 m3; Earthwork geotextile, 14,500
m2; Roadway Obliteration, 23,000 m2; Aggregate-Sand course, 125mm
depth, 4000 m2; Aggregate base, Grading C or D, 13,800 t; Hot asphalt
concrete pavement, Class A, Grading B, 3,800 t; Hot asphalt concrete
pavement, Class A, Grading D, 3,000 t; Pavement milling, 3,900 m2; and
Pavement markings, type H, 20,000 m. The project is expected to fall
within the price range of $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Invitation for Bids

first class. It is strongly recommended that all requests for bid

about July 6, 2000, at 2:00 pm, local time, at the address listed above

Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization has bonding programs to assist minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises in acquiring
short-term capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related
contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program
(STLP) at prime interest rates up to $500,000 to provide accounts
receivable financing. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms
to apply for bid, performance and payment bonds up to $1,000,000 per
contract. DOT provides an 80 percent guaranty on the bond amount to a
