66 -- INSTRUMENT, FOR SUPLEMENTING AND EXPANDING SUBSURFACE IMAGING SOL 0-4704-0130 DUE 060200 POC Ann Margrave (650)329-4132 E-MAIL: amargrave@usgs.gov, amargrave@usgs.gov. The U.S. Geological Survey, Water Resources Division, Tucson, Arizona, has a requirement to purchase, on a sole source basis, a resistivity profiling system capable of producing 2-demensional subsurface images. The system is the Sting/Swift System manufactured by AGI Advance Geosciences, Inc. 12700 Volente Rd. Fm 2769, Bldg A. Austin, TX, 78726. This purchase will supplement and expand the subsurface imaging capabilities. System requirements: 1. Resistivity meter with a programmable, fully automated measurements sequence. 2. A multi-electrode switching system that is interfaced with the resistivity meter. 3. General-purpose resistivity cables. 4. Software that allows the resistivity meter to be interfaced with a PC for transferring data. 5. Weatherproof, rugged construction. Specific Requirements: 1. Resistivity meter and automatic multi-electrode switching system. A. Hardware: Able to store 3000 or more data points in internal memory. Able to handle more than 100 electrodes. Able to check and record contact resistances. Useable in the field with or without a PC. System that automatically compensates for self-potential effects. System capable of suppressing noise with a 60Hz signal. Capable of being powered by an external 12v battery. Adjustable current output with an automatic step down as needed. B. SOFTWARE: Data easy to convert to formats used by popular 2-D resistivity inversion software. Allow for custom designed measurement sequences. 2. General-purpose resistivity cable set. Must have at least 28 takeouts. Cable set designed to minimize system noise. Must be re-programmable. This product is needed by 7/1/00. Posted 05/18/00 (W-SN456414). (0139)
