POC Mr. Randall, FAX 011-49-611-816-2197 The U.S. Army Contracting
Command Europe has a requirement for non-personal services for a lease
versus purchase of new Technology for Automated Cartridge Library
(ACL). The performance of maintenance and services, shall include parts
and installation and the provision of human resources necessary to
operate and maintain the Government-owned Robotic Arms Systems located
in Schwetzingen and Kaiserslautern, Germany. The existing
Government-owned equipment shall be removed and transported by the
contractor to their site, and the new equipment shall be provided
inclusive of transportation and installations costs. The new equipment
for the Kaiserslautern location will consist of 1
Cartridge-robotic-system with 1 archive-system for approximately 2,500
cartridges with 6 tape drives (36-tracks) and required control units
with additional Escon channel connection/each. The system should have
the possibility to be modified/expanded to approximately 6,000
cartridges and to 128-track MAGSTAR. It shall also have theread
capability for 18-track cartridges. The system must be compatible with
the OS390 System (Our mainframe is IBM 2003). The new requirement for
the Schwetzingen location will consist of four 18/36-track tape drives
and associated control unit, which will be operated manually. OLD
EQUIPMENT: The existing equipment will be given to the successful
contractor for salvage or resale. Offerors shall account for this in
their cost proposals. NEW EQUIPMENT: The new equipment price shall
include operating and maintenance costs. If the equipment is leased, a
contract with 5 option years is desired. All installation, training
and training materials, hardware and software manuals costs, and
hardware and software maintenance costs for the basic year of the
contract shall be included. The contractor shall maintain sufficient
service technicians to ensure all principle period of maintenance
established as 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including local and
American holidays is performed. Firms having the capabilities necessary
to meet the above requirement are invited to submit documentation
addressing these capabilities. This synopsis is for information and
