NIH-NIDDK-00-555 DUE 061600 POC Patricia Haun, Purchasing Agent,
301-594-8855 The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National
Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a
requirement to purchase the services of a Developmental
Biologist/Molecular Geneticist to culture, maintain and study Mutant
Dictyostelium Cell Lines. The specific requirements are as follows: 1)
Culturing of Dictyostelium cell lines: The candidate must have
experience with media preparation and sterile techniques involved in
the culture and transformation of Dictyostelium cells. Special
expertise must include a knowledge of Dictyostelium development and
genetics and of analyzing developmental phenotypes. 2) Cell
transformation with genetic materials and assessment of gene transfer
efficiencies: The candidate must be familiar with and able to perform
gene transfer experiments of Dictysotelium. Expertise with preparation
of transforming vectors and of knock-out transformation and ectopic
gene expression Dictyostelium is essential. 3) Analysis of signal
transduction: The candidate must have experience in receptor-mediated
mechanisms of signal transduction. A complex understanding of receptor,
G protein and protein kinase biochemistry is required. Expertise must
involve receptor-ligand interactions, protein tyrosine kinase activity
detection, and construction and expression of mutated genes and their
analysis of their affect on receptor signaling. 4) Reagent storage and
records: The candidate must be able to order and maintain the reagents
necessary for the above requirements. The candidate must also be able
to maintain the frozen laboratory cell stocks. The candidate must also
be aware of precautions used in the handling of radioactive samples. A
copy of the current Curriculum Vitae shall be included in the Request
for Quote (RFQ) package. The anticipated period of performance will be
a Base Year with one (1) option year period. All responsible small
business sources and 8(a) sources may submit a quotation, which if
timely received, shall be within the Simplified Acquisition Threshold
for purchases up to $100,000. It is anticipated that RFQ
NIH-NIDDK-00-555 will be available fifteen (15) days after the
publication date of this synopsis, receipt of quotations will be due
ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date
is June 16, 2000. Requests for copies of the RFQ must be in writing
and may be FAXED to 301-480-4226. Quotations must be in writing to the
