(SAIC) under Contract DE-AC01-98NN50323 which expires on June 30, 2000. This acquisition is to continue the technical, analytical, and administrative support services provided to the Office of Security and Emergency Operations. The general activities within these functional areas will include technical and administrative support of personnel security activities. The proposed six (6) month base period will be at 13,718 man-hours and three (3)-two (2) month option periods will be at 4,572 man-hours each. This acquisition provides a "bridge" from the existing SAIC contract to a new competitively awarded contract being solicited under DE-RP01-99NN50329 and will prevent an adverse impact on the mission of the Office of Security and Emergency Operations which would occur with the interruption of the work presently performed under contract. The DOE Office of Procurement Services expects the follow-on contract to be awarded within six (6) months, barring no unforseen complications. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
