NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for the purchase of a multi-junction lamphouse (MJL) and associated cables (pulse forming network internal cable P/N 032253; lamphouse high voltage cable P/N 032007; pulse forming network to lamphouse cable P/N 020626-16) and hardware installation, setup, and checkout of new lamphouse. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Spectrolab, Inc. The items being purchased are an upgrade to an existing system that was also manufactured by Spectrolab, Inc. The core of that original system will remain as part of the upgraded system; therefore, the upgraded parts must be compatible with the part of the original system that will remain. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on June 2, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
