PROFESSIONAL SERVICES OF DR. GARY CURHAN ASSOCIATED WITH EPIDEMIOLOGY, STATISTICAL ANALYSIS AND CLINICAL DATA COLLECTION RELATED TO UROLOGICAL DISEASES PARTICULARY INTERSTITIAL CYSTITIS. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) intends to contract on a sole source basis with Massachusetts General Hospital to provide professional services of Dr. Gary Curhan M.D., Sc.D. as the Principal Investigator. Dr. Curhan is a Board Certified Nephrologist who also holds a Sc.D. in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health who has published extensively on the epidemiology of numerous urological diseases, especially interstitial cystitis. This request also requires the services of a Master's level statistician and one support personnel. Dr. Curhan has been identified as the sole source to provide professional services associated with epidemiology, statistical analysis and clinical data collection related to urological diseases. Dr. Curhan is the only known source with the breadth and depth of scientific and clinical expertise in epidemiology, statistics and the clinical aspects of urology/nephrology who can meet these requirements. Dr. Curhan's duties will include individual projects related to the epidemiology of urological diseases, particularly interstitial cystitis, as well as consultation and assistance in the development of a NIDDK funded compendium of urologic diseases. The anticipated period of performance for this contract is six (6) years. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within forty-five days after the date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice received would normally be consisted solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
