Space and Naval Systems Command intends to compete purchase of up to 900 servers and up to 1000 client workstations for the fleet over the next 7 years (FY01-FY07). The Servers will be for 3 different capabilities: Sun Enterprise 4500 servers or equal, Sun Netra 1405 servers or equal, and Sun Ultra workstations or equal (tower or desktop configuration will depend upon the results of site surveys). In FY01 SPAWAR intends to purchase Sun 1405 Servers or equal and Sun Ultra 5 Workstations or equal for development and integration of next generation capability. In FY02 through FY 07 SPAWAR will purchase Sun Enterprise 4500 servers or equal, Sun Netra 1405 servers or equal, and Sun Ultra 5 workstations or equal for deployment to the field. The quantity and the mix in these years is unknown at this time. Given COTS IT history of each generation being smaller and less expensive than the previous, the government expects that such options for upgrades in FY01 and the outyears will be offered to the Navy. Upgrades will be backward compatible with previous versions. Interested parties are requested to provide their commercial Technical Refresh contract language for development of a government contract clause for this procurement. The operating system must be the same on all three configurations (Servers & Clients) and must be able to run DII COE 4.X series software. Required delivery schedule of these COTS products is expected to be 60 days from time of contract or option mod (upgrade or otherwise) award.
