The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a Purchase
Order with Auburn University to continue an on-going study entitled,
_Nominal Bending & Shear Strength of Horizontally Curved Steel I-Beam
Bridges._ The theoretical and analytical study on bending and shear as
related to curved I sections have been completed and this portion of
the study will complete the report by focusing on experimental data
available from other tasks of the FHWA Curved Bridge Study. In order to
successfully complete this study, it is imperative that this work be
conducted at Auburn and equations be updated with experimental results
from the full scale tests and a new updated report be prepared on
Nominal Bending and Shear Strength. Because Auburn University developed
the equations and methodology reported in the initial report based on
analytical work and computer modeling, they are the only known source
that can successfully complete this study. This is a Simplified
Acquisition and the anticipated award date is June 07, 2000. Posted
