B -- RESOURCE DOCUMENT ON IMPROVING MEDICAL EDUCATION OF FUTURE PHYSICIANS SOL 240-BHPr-26(0)-KL DUE 071000 POC Kimberly Lewis -- (301)443-4540 The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) for the purpose of providing a resource document that will assist the Division of Medicine and Dentistry (DMD) in improving the medical education of future physicians to meet public needs. This is a notice of intent, not a request for competitive proposals. The major focus of this procurement will be to engage the leaders of the family medicine education community in a critical examination of the current medical school family medicine clerkship curriculum. The decision to award the contract to the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine is based on the unique capabilities that STFM is the only medical education organization within the family medicine community that represents the continuum of medical education, from medical student education to resident medical education to education of fellows in family medicine; they represent the broadest group of educators within the family medicine academia community with whom the responsibility and accountability rest. STFM has the unique data base of the educators in family medicine community essential to the success of this project. No other organization within the community of family medicine represents this breadth and scope in medical education. Therefore, the Government has deemed the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) as the only responsible source capable of providing the required services under this contract.
