Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to procure electric and
electronic maintenance using simplified acquisition procedures, under
the authority of the test program for certain commercial items cited in
FAR Surpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The
Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code is 3822 and the size
standard is 500 employees. This action is unrestricted. The Government
requires services to be performed on-site on equipment located on the
NIST campus in Gaithersburg, MD. Items to be maintained shall include:
a.) LaBlond Makino CNC High Speed Machining Center; b) Charmilles CNC
Wire EDM; c) Mituoyo Coordinate Measuring Machine; d)Veeco Leak Testing
System; e) Trent Electric Furnace; e) Panasonic Color CCTV Camera; f)
Anilam Digital Recorder; as well as approximately 90 other items that
will be specified in the RFQ. Service required shall include: 1)
Quarterly Preventive Maintenance, including cleaning of electronic
components, cleaning, and replacement of air filters, complete system
and diagnostic checks, voltage adjustments as required, and all other
preventive maintenance necessary to maintain the equipment in good
working order; 2) Corrective repairs; 3) Parts replacement; 4)
Maintaining a record of all service and preventive maintenance
performed; 5) Furnishing NIST with monthly reports of service and
maintenance performed on each item; 6) Any and all labor necessary for
maintenance of the electric and electronic equipment covered under
this action-i.e. work done to keep it in efficient operating condition.
The Contractor shall provide unlimited, remedial service within 12
government working hours. Services are to be performed from November 1,
2000 through October 31, 2001. THIS ACQUISITION IS SUBJECT TO THE
AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. The contract is for the base period of one year,
and four additional one year option periods. Detailed specifications
shall be provided in the solicitation. FOB Destination, Gaithersburg,
MD. Award will be based onthe offeror whose proposal offers the best
value to the Government, technical, price, and other factors
considered. The Government intends to issue a Request for Quotation
(RFQ). Requests for a copy of the RFQ may be mailed to the National
Institute of Standards and Technology, Acquisition and Assistance
Division, Building 301, Room B117, 100 Bureau Drive, Stop 3572,
Gaithersburg, Maryland 20899-3572, Reference Solicitation No.
53SBNB060107 or faxed to (301) 963-7732. The response date identified
above is an estimate. The RFQ will be available approximately twelve
days after publication of this announcement and the solicitation
response time will be approximately 21 days after issuance. The RFQ
will indicate the time and place of the site visit. The Government
anticipates holding only one site visit prior to the due date of the
RFQ. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which will be
considered by the agency. All requests for the solicitation package
