NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Comprehensive hardware and software maintenance on the Landis and Gyr System 600 including a maintenance upgrade to Air Handler Units 4 and 7. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from SIEMENS BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES, LANDIS DIVISION, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, UNIQUE SUPPLIES AVAILABLE FROM ONLY ONE SOURCE. THIS SYSTEM IS PROPRIETARY TO SIEMENS BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES AND NO OTHER FIRM CAN PROVIDE HARDWARE/SOFTWARE MAINTENANCE. THE PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FOR THIS SERVICE WILL BE FOR A PERIOD NOT LESS THAN ONE YEAR WITH OPTIONS TO EXTEND THE PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE FOR FOUR (4) ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR PERIODS. THE DATES WILL BE DETERMINED BY FISCAL YEAR. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on JUNE 9, 2000. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
