The U.S. Customs Service Miami Florida has a requirement for medical services to be provided for international passengers entering the United States and suspected of internal concealment of illegal drugs into the country. These services shall include a medical facility capable of offering on-site x-ray, radiographic evaluation, pregnancy tests for female suspects, medical examinations, and physician services available 24 hours per day. The services shall also provide internment of the patients with around-the-clock monitoring at the facility. The facility must have life support capabilities for emergencies. The facility shall be within a 6-10 mile radius from the Miami International airport to enable this agency to effectively transport and process the suspects in an expeditious mannner. In addition, the contractor must provide a designated lockdown area for confinement of each suspect and provide an area that will be used for installation of a drugloo machine provided as Government Furnished Equipment (GFE). The performance period for the proposed contract is a base year and four one year options if exercised. The maximum overall contract will not exceed $2,500,000. This agency intends to procure these services sole source from Jackson Memorial Hospital, 1611 N.W. 12th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33136-1094. The reason for procuring this requirement sole source is that a thorough market survey of the area revealed no other sources are capable of furnishing equivalent services that can meet the mission of Customs.
