2000, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction
of Mobilization Materials Warehouse, Project Number 043481, FORT
CARSON, COLORADO. Bids will be opened on or about 11 July 2000.
Solicitation of bids will be restricted to Section 8(a) Contractors in
Colorado District Only and Competitively Bid. Contractors interested
in inspecting the site of the proposed work should contact the Fort
Carson Resident Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers, Bldg. 304, 803 Tevis Street, Fort Carson, CO 80913,

for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above.
See "Ordering" below. The work will include the following: (Approx.
quantities) Construction of a new 3284 gross square meters warehouse
with the following functional areas: rack storage, offices, toilet,
mechanical room, electrical room, communications room, and stairway.
Warehouse walls are composed of split-face concrete masonry, and
pre-finished insulated metal panels, with an insulated metal accent
band. The warehouse roof is a structural standing seam metal system.
Interior finishes of the warehouse facility are painted concrete
masonry, and painted gypsum wallboard with acoustical tile gypsum board
ceilings. The primary structural features of the warehouse are a
pre-engineered metal building framing system, two story masonry office
area, and loading dock/retaining walls. Interior mechanical features
of the warehouse includes heating, ventilating and air conditioning,
plumbing, wet-pipe fire sprinkler system and environmental controls
including energy monitoring control system (EMCS). Interior Electrical
features of the warehouse include lighting, power, fire alarm and
detection, telephone, lightning protection, and backup power supply.
Supporting facilities include: utilities (water, sewer, gas); electric
service; exterior lighting; fire protection and alarm systems;
concrete walks, curbs, and gutters; asphalt access drives; asphalt
parking; storm drainage; and landscaping (sodding, seeding, irrigation
and trees and shrubs). The estimated construction cost of this project
is between $2,500,000 and $5,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will
be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to
commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the
work 360 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions
will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete
the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be
required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk
(CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined
that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans
and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
