Postal Service is soliciting proposals from pre-qualified firms for the design-build of a new facility on a USPS-owned site as follows: approximately 26,804 SF carrier annex on a USPS-owned site of approximately 295,441 SF located at 22600 Camino Del Rio North, San Diego CA. Approximately 125,000 SF of the site is buildable. The other half of the site includes steep banks and the San Diego River. The contractor will be required to take precautions not to impact the bank areas which are in the Corps of Engineers floodplain and are considered endangered species habitat. Other work will include removal/replacement of storm sewer(s) and removal and replacement of certain encroachments on the site. The design-build contractor will be responsible for completing the design documents while conforming to postal medium standard building design (MSBD) requirements. The work may include design and construction of off-site improvements, and utility improvements and connections. Coordination with local jurisdictions, application, payment and submission for plan check and permits will be required and is the responsibility of the design-build contractor. The work is to be completed within 300 days after receipt of notice to proceed. Estimated range is $2,500,000-$3,500,000. The minority subcontracting goal for this contract is 11%.
