The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) intends to negotiate with SRA Life Sciences, Inc. of Rockville, MD for additional efforts to provide continuity in support of an integral component of the Division of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome drug discovery and development for HIV therapeutics. Specifically, the contract N01-AI-55282, "In Vitro Immunological Evaluations of Strategies to Combat HIV/AIDS", has on-going, time-sensitive studies to provide confirmatory in-vitro testing capabilities to investigators developing novel anti-HIV therapeutic agents; immunological tests of compounds with anti-viral activity; histologic and immunohistochemical support for the development of immune-based anti-viral strategies. Authority under 41 U.S.C. 253 c(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1 will be used. Inherent duplication of cost and unacceptable delays in completing the project make competition unfeasible.
