301-619-2036 The Defense Appropriations Act of Fiscal Year 2000 (FY 00)
provides $25M to support peer-reviewed research on military relevant
health-related topics. As the executive agent for the Defense Health
Research Program (DHRP), the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel
Command (USAMRMC) has assigned this program to the Office of the
Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs. The DHRP was
established to provide support for military health-related research.
Proposals are being solicited from agencies of local, state, and
federal governments; educational institutions; nonprofit organizations;
and private industry on the following topics: Acute Lung Injury
Research, Paget's Disease, Advanced Soft Tissue Modeling, Retinal
Display Technology, Alcohol Abuse Prevention Research, Smoking
Cessation,Defense and Veterans Head Injury Program, Stem Cell
Research1, Dengue Fever Vaccine Research, Volumetrically Controlled
Manufacturing, Childhood Asthma, Military Relevant Disease Management,
Diabetes, Laser Eye Injury/Eye Cancer Research and Treatment,Digital
Mammography Imaging, Healthcare Information Protection, Gulf War
Illnesses and Sleep Management. FY 00 individual awards will normally
be limited to a total of $2M inclusive of direct and indirect costs,
with a maximum performance period of 4 years. The receipt deadline for
DHRP proposals is August 23, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Please
