Disease Control and Prevention contemplates a single award of a
firm-fixed priced contract to perform Minimum Inhibitory Concentration
(MIC) testing to specified antimicrobial agents using broth
micro-dilution techniques and document control measures. Clinical
materials will be those obtained in conjunction with multi-state
population based surveillance for invasive bacterial disease (Active
Bacterial Core Surveillance/Emerging Infections Program Network). The
purpose of this contract will be to determine antimicrobial resistance
patterns in isolates of Streptococcus pneumonia, group A streptococcus
(GAS) and group B streptococcus (GBS) obtained from patients with
invasive disease. The successful contractor will determine
susceptibility of isolates sent from specified surveillance areas
and/or from CDC. The agency is seeking a laboratory facility with
established experience in Streptococcus pneumoniae and standardized
antimicrobial susceptibility testing based on National Committee for
Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS). The period of performance will
be a twelve month basic contract period with four, 12 month option
periods which may be exercised at the Government's discretion based
upon the availability of funds for that fiscal year. The schedule issue
