E-MAIL: David D. Reeves, David.Reeves-1@ksc.nasa.gov. NASA/KSC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for pan and tilt devices for use at Kennedy Space Center in support of launch operations. The devices shall provide support and variable speed azimuth and elevation positioning for a hazard-proof television camera assembly subject to the impact of a spacecraft lift-off environment. A heavy-duty and light-duty configuration will be procured. Acceptance testing will be required on the first unit to ensure compliance with requirements. Examples of required compliance are vibration testing, and salt spray and solar radiation testing in accordance with MIL-STD-810E. The contract will be Firm Fixed Price/Indefinite Delivery. There will be a prototype/initial unit required of each configuration. requried delivery will be approximately September 8th. A maximum of 152 light-duty and 27 heavy-duty units will then be required over the next four years. Delivery of the units will be to Kennedy Space Center. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. This procurement is a total small business set-aside. See Note 1. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 3663 and 750 employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-A7. The provisions and clauses in the RFO and model contract are those in effect through FAC 97-17. All qualified responsible small business sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about June 9, 2000 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about July 3. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
