NASA Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology Exposition-June 22, 2000 NASA
invites you to participate in a technology exposition presenting the
reusable launch program history, current status, technologies and
future plans. This event will be hosted by NASA Dryden Flight Research
Center located in Edwards, California, on the western edge of the
Mojave Desert, 80 miles north of Los Angeles. The unpiloted X-37 will
be NASA's first reusable launch vehicle demonstrator to fly in both
orbital and reentry environments, operating up to 25 times the speed of
sound. The X-40A, X-34 and other X-vehicles will be on hand for viewing

Program NASA Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology Exposition Morning
Program 8:00 Exhibits open 9:30 Welcome and Introductions: Kevin
Petersen, Director, Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC) TOPIC: NASA's
Vision and Goals for RLVs Robert L. Sackheim, Assistant Director for
Space Propulsion Systems Bob oversees all advanced space propulsion
activities at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), NASA's center
for propulsion systems R&D. Bob joined MSFC in 1999 from TRW in Redondo
Beach, California, where he managed the Propulsion Systems Center.
TOPIC: Future Generations of RLVs Daniel L. Dumbacher, Manager for 2nd
Generation RLV Program Dan oversees the budget for development of the
next generation of RLVs. He previously served as deputy director of
MSFC's Propulsion Laboratory and as NASA's X-33 deputy program manager
at Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. TOPIC: NASA Pathfinder Program and
X-34 John R. London III, Manager for Future-X Pathfinder Program John
manages NASA's Future-X Pathfinder Program, which develops and flight
tests vehicles and experiments. Previously, John managed the X-34
Project. He joined NASA in 1997 after retiring as a lieutenant colonel
from the U.S. Air Force. TOPIC: X-37 Project Overview Susan G. Turner,
Project Manager for X-37 Susan manages the X-37 Project, which will
develop the first experimental vehicle to fly in both orbital and
reentry environments. X-37 is the first flight demonstrator for
Future-X. Susan previously served as Assistant Chief of MSFC's
Propulsion Laboratory. TOPIC: X-Vehicle Flight Testing Larry Crawford,
Director of Aerospace Projects Larry directs Aerospace Projects at
DFRC. Previously, he managed flight research for the X-43 Project,
NASA's experimental hypersonic flight research program called Hyper-X.
The afternoon program includes technology briefings, X-vehicle
