necessary to perform interior painting of two (2) U.S. Coast Guard
Housing Units and a double unit Guest Quarters located at the Coast
Guard's Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island, NY facility. The work also
includes the removal of lead paint and some asbestos removal. A one
time only site visit is scheduled for 1 PM on 6 July 2000. This project
is a readvertisement of project DTCGG1-00-Q-3WK160. Offerors are
advised that the successful contractor shall be required to perform at
least 50% of the work with their own forces. This Request for
Quotations is being issued pursuant to the Small Business
Competitiveness Demonstration Program and is open to both large and
small business participation. This project is estimated between $25,000
and $100,000. The applicable SIC Code is 1721. The tentative date for
receipt of quotes is 12 July 2000. Bid packages will be available on or
about 20 June 2000 at a non-refundable charge of $28. Certified Checks

and disadvantaged business enterprises: the Department of
Transportation (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women owned and
disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working
capital and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts.
This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier.
The DOT bonding assistance program enables firms to apply for bid,
performance and payment bonds up to $1 million per contract. The DOT
provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at
prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The
maximum line of credit is $500,000. For further information and
