Z -- IMPROVEMENT TO SEAWALL WITH INSTALLATION OF TIMBER PILES ALONG SEAWALL, KEY WEST, FL SOL NAAJ8700000120SLW DUE 062600 POC Sharon Walker 816-426-7267 x241 Fax 816-426-7530 The U.S. Department of Commerce intends to procure for improvement of the seawall at the Truman Annex, in Key West, FL. Description: Furnish all labor, material, equipment and each and every item of expense for the installation of twenty seven (27), 12-inch diameter timber pile, marine grade with a 2.5 CCA retention rate. Each pile shall be driven vertical and located along the NOAA property sea wall at ten (10) foot intervals in a straight line configuration. Each pile shall be driven into the seabed a minimum of six (6) feet and shall extend above the top of the concrete seawall cap five (5) feet. The distance from the top of the seawall cap down to the top of the seabed varies from approximately twelve (12) to sixteen (16) feet. Once the piles have been driven into the seabed, a wood spacer, of same wood material and treatment as the timber pile, shall be placed between the seawall concrete cap and the timber pile. A horizontal hole shall be drilled through the timber pile, wood spacer, and into theconcrete seawall cap for a distance of at least six (6) inches for securing the timber pile with a stainless steel all-thread rod. The rod shall be 18-8 grade stainless steel, 5/8-inch diameter, with stainless steel washer and nut. The stainless steel rod shall doweled and anchored into the concrete with epoxy. After securing the timber pile with the stainless steel rod, the nut and washer end of the rod shall not protrude past the surface of the timber pile. A plastic cone cap shall be secured to the top each of the driven timber pile. Completion time for this project is 60 calendar days from Notice to Proceed.
