COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 6,2000 PSA#2615A -- IMMUNE TOLERANCE NETWORK The National Institute of Allergy and
Infectious Diseases intends to negotiate a contract on a sole source
basis with the University of California -- San Francisco (UCSF) to
conduct the work of the Immune Tolerance Network. The network will: (1)
develop a long-term scientific agenda for clinical trials and
mechanistic studies; (2) design and conduct clinical trials at all
phases to determine the safety, toxicity and efficacy of tolerogenic
treatment strategies for multiple immune system diseases; (3) design
and conduct research to delineate the underlying mechanisms of immune
tolerance as an integral part of the clinical trials undertaken by the
Collaborative Network, as well as clinical trials sponsored by other
Federal and private sector organizations and companies; and (4) develop
and validate biomarkers and assays of immune tolerance in humans. The
proposed award represents a continuation of work originally awarded to
The University of Chicago (under contract NO1-AI-95380) in 1999. The
Network Center Office intends to relocate to UCSF. Authority: 41U.S.C.
