minimum registered length of 125 ft, and a minimum continuous
horsepower from the main engine of 1,000 is needed to perform a cruise
to recover tagged Atka mackerel within the trawl exclusion zone in
Sequam Pass, Aleutian Islands, Alaska. The charter operations will be
conducted 24 hours per day. The charter is expected to last 7-14 days
in order to catch 500,000 Atka mackerel, and will begin after the
open-access B-season fishery in area 541 in the Aleutian Islands is
completed (approximately September 10, 2000). Vessel must be completely
rigged for trawling, and have sufficient fuel and fuel-holding capacity
to conduct 14 days of charter operations without refueling. Contractor
shall provide a crew commensurate with the vessel size and expected
catch, including a Captain, first mate, engineers, cooks, lead
fisherman, fishing/deck crew, factor foreman, and processors. The
vessel must also accommodate a crew of six scientists, with separate
quarters for male and female scientists. The contractor may take
ownership of all catch not retained by scientists. The government
intends to make no payment to the contractor. Expected start and ending
location is Dutch Harbor, Alaska, but the start date and start location
will be at a time and place mutually agreeable to the contractor and
the government. All responsible, responsive offers will be considered.
