Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA),
Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) through the General
Acquisitions Branch, Program Support Center (PSC), intends to award a
twelve month sole source simplified acquisition to the State of Alaska,
Department of Health and Social Services, Office of Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome. Work under this simplified acquisition will develop a
statewide, comprehensive approach to reduce Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome/Fetal Alcohol Effect (FAS/FAE) problems across the state. The
integrated service approach the state will develop shall include both
prevention interventions and treatment services. Determination of the
sole source was made based upon the proposed contractor's unique
ability to bring together all state sources, both government and
non-government; extensive experience with FAS/FAE; and proprietary data
on State-wide prevalence rates of FAS and FAE necessary to develop the
comprehensive program. Closing date is June 20, 2000. No solicitation
