The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate and award a Firm Fixed Price Contract for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) procurement for the Government of Taiwan to upgrade 296 AIM-9S, WGU-31/B Guidance Control Sections to the AIM-9M, WGU-4A/B Guidance Control Section configuration. Raytheon would manufacture the upgrade components and install into the Taiwan GCSs. Deliveries of remanufactured units to start 18 months after contract award with completion of full upgrade of GCS units by 26 months after contract award. Raytheon Missile Systems, the original manufacture of the Guidance Control Systems, is the only known source, possessing the requisite knowledge, experience, special tooling, and technical data required to provide the hardware and install these kits.
