operating personnel and supplies under a requirements contract for the
following geotechnical drilling sampling and exploration: standard
penetration tests with auto hammer; drive sampling with split spoon and
solid spoon samplers up to 3 inch diameter; 3-5 inch diameter thin wall
undisturbed sampling; 3 1/4 inch to 6 5/8 inch I.D. hollow stem auger
borings; 3 and 5 inch diameter piston sampling; 4-8 inch diameter
flight auger borings; 4-6 inch cased and uncased borings; NQ-3, HQ-3,
PQ-3 and 6 inch diameter rock coring; 6 inch diameter Dennison barrel
coring; 2 inch diameter piezometer and monitoring well installations;
steam cleaner; and grout mixing, pumping and tremie system to backfill
boreholes. Average depth of borings will be 50 feet, but depths to 300
feet may be required. Personnel shall be experienced in subsurface
exploration and possess current safety training for Level C and D
(OSHA) protection. Personnel and equipment shall be licensed by the
appropriate regulatory agency to conduct and abandon soil borings,
install and abandon monitoring wells and piezometers in the areas
defined in this solicitation. Work to be performed in either Western
Minnesota/Eastern North Dakota/ Northern Iowa or Eastern
Minnesota/Western Wisconsin/Northern Iowa. The IFB may result in more
than one contract. Contractor will perform services under individual
delivery orders over a one-year period. Contractor shall be capable of
mobilizing personnel and equipment for simultaneous delivery orders.
The government may at it's own discretion extend the contract for two
(2) additional years. The procurement is issued unrestricted. SIC Code
7359 (for informational purposes the size standard for this SIC code
is $5 million). The solicitation package is expected to be available
approximately 23 June 2000, with bid opening occurring on or about 25
July 2000. Plans and specifications will be available in CD-ROM format
only. Ordering of the CD shall be made by registering via the St. Paul
District web site at www.mvp.usace.army.mil (click on "Contracts" then
"Bid Solicitations"). There is no charge for the CD. CDs are available
on a first-come, first-serve basis. Telephone requests not accepted.
