The project work is located approximately 16 miles southwest of Farmington, New Mexico, in San Juan County. The principal components of the work to be performed include the following: Constructing reinforced concrete switchyard foundations, switchyard structures, and performing associated earthwork; furnishing and installing 9 single-phase 15-kV voltage regulators and one 15-kV capacitor bank; modifying existing outdoor switchgear to add a 15-kV power circuit breaker section, including current transformers and modifications to existing control scheme; furnishing and installing fiber optic equipment; constructing approximately four miles of wood-pole 13.8-kilovolt distribution line; and furnishing and installing ground cable, electrical conduit, 15-kV power cable, and 600-volt rated insulated conductors. A prebid site tour and conference will be held on July 18, 2000, by the Bureau of Reclamation. The tour will start at 9:00 a.m. in Reclamation's conference room located at the Farmington Construction Office, 2200 Bloomfield Highway, Farmington, New Mexico. It is anticipated that the actual tour will take approximately 2 hours and cover approximately 40 miles. A portion of the distribution lines will be constructed across range land. To view the entire alignment of the distribution lines, a four wheel drive vehicle may be required. The Government will not provide transportation for the site tour.
