(a not-for-profit organization), 53 W. Jackson Blvd, Chicago, Illinois for the purpose of conducting a water level fluctuation study of the Des Plaines River Demonstration Project. The project is located in northern Lake County, Illinois near Wadsworth, Illinois. The study will involve collection of data to help analyze various aspects of wetland ponds constructed for flood control purposes. The study will concentrate on how various ecological functions occurring in detention basins are affected by various flows in comparison to more stable water level conditions. The intended Contractor has performed research on the use of wetlands for flood protection at the site. The Contractor's existing wetlands will be used for the study. The Contractor has developed and has exclusive use of the property on which the study will be done. The estimated award date is 21 July 2000. The period of performance will beapproximately two (2) years from the date of the contract. The proposed requirement is for services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all responses received by 26 June 2000. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A solicitation package is not available.
