Army is pursuing the sale of Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant (AAP),
DeSoto, Kansas. Sunflower AAP previously was a propellant manufacturing
facility, producing solvent, solventless, single, double and triple
base propellants, rocket grains, and Nitroguanidine. As part of the
clean up effort the Army will decontaminate the explosively
contaminated sewers. Many of the sewers were used to transfer
explosively laden water/acids to settling basins or to reconstitute
chemical equipment. There is approximately 50,000 linear feet of
underground sewer lines. The lines vary from 6 inches to 36 inches in
diameter and are form 6 inches to 18 inches underground. The lines will
not be replaced or reused, they will be decontaminated only. Work will
be performed within a maximum of 24 months; a shorter performance
period is preferred. The purpose of this notice is to identify and
establish initial interest and points of contact from the commercial
community. Also, to determine what methods the commercial market would
use to perform the decontamination of these sewer lines. Information
may be used to help formulate bidder's mailing lists, acquisition
strategies and to help establish commercial practices available to the
Government. Any response to this notice should include the following
information: company name, point of contact, address, telephone and fax
numbers, e-mail address, brief description of company and capabilities,
experience, size, history, CAGE code, tax ID number, and large or small
business category. Note: No solicitation will be issued at this time.
This is a Sources Sought announcement only. Participation in this
effort is strictly voluntary with no cost or obligation to be incurred
by the U. S. Government. The U. S. Government will in no way be
obligated to purchase all or any part of the services described above.
