National Park is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to
construct two timber bikeway/pedestrian bridges, to be located at the
Davison Ranch area, Redwood National Park, Humboldt County, California.
One bridge shall be a single span, approximately 60' long. The other
bridge shall consist of four spans, with one span widened to serve as
an observation deck. The four spans shall be approximately 40', 80',
65' (widened), and 65', for an overall length of approximately 250'.
Work includes final design, construction of the supporting concrete
abutments, concrete piers, driving steel piles, and other required
substructure. Government will provide materials for and install the
bridge decking and handrails. Excavation and soil moving operations
which may affect the waters of either creek can be performed only
between June 15th and October 15th. All earth moving operations must be
completed by October 15, 2000. One bridge is within the boundary of
noise restriction periods for listed threatened and endangered species
(i.e. northern spotted owl and marbled murrelet). Between Feb. 1 and
Sept. 15, no project noise levels in excess of ambient noise levels
(determined to be >54db) may occur. The following criteria shall be
used in the evaluation of the prospective contractors: 1.) Quality
(subfactors, listed in descending order of importance: past
performance, experience, and qualifications and experience of key
personnel); and 2) Price; with quality equal to price. The estimated
price range is between $100,000 and $250,000. Project completion time
is 90 calendar days. Disadvantaged Business Participation is
established at 5% for this project. A limited number of solicitation
packages will become available approximately June 26th, 2000, on a
first-come, first-served basis until the supply is exhausted.
Contractors will have a thirty day response time for submission of
offers. There is no charge for the solicitation package, however only
one copy will be furnished to each requesting party. Planholders lists
will not be faxxed. Interested parties should request a solicitation
package in writing to the attention of the Contracting Officer at
Redwood National Park or fax their request to (707) 464-1812. Telephone
