=906. E-MAIL: Lesley Ervan, lesley.ervan@edwards.af.mil. The Air Force
Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB CA (AFFTC) intends to issue a purchase
order to the University of South Australia to do a study to determine
optimization criteria and techniques for telemetry Data Cycle Maps
(DCM). This order is for 40 hours of labor to do Algorithm
Identification in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW) paragraph
3.1.1; 200 hours of labor to do Batch Processing Algorithm Software
Development in accordance with SOW paragraph 3.1.2; and 160 hours of
labor to do Algorithm Efficiency Analysis in accordance with SOW
paragraph 3.1.3;and 1 trip to Edwards AFB for 4 days in accordance with
SOW 3.2 including car rental, lodging and Per Diem. DCMs describe the
formats used for sending and recording data. A recent study indicates
that current DCMs are less than optimal. Techniques for optimizing DCMs
would thus directly benefit test and training missions by allowing
minimal use of telemetry spectrum and by allowing efficient use of data
recording media. Although the major optimization criterion from DCMs is
the minimization of bits that do not carry information, there may be
other criteria as well. The proposed study shall provide: 1) an
identification and discussion of DCM optimization criteria 2)
algorithmic techniques for meeting these criteria, and 3) prototype
software for evaluating and implementing these techniques. Any
qualified source interested in quoting on this solicitation should
contact Leslie Ervan, Contract Specialist, at(661) 277-7706 or
leslie.ervan@edwards.af.mil. Qualified sources should include
information on studies currently being done in this research area.
