Technology Center for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment
(hereafter abbreviated Center') is in the process of developing a
Strategic Plan for Facilities Management (FM) in support of its member
Federal Agencies missions' (Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Federal
Aviation Administration, General Services Administration, Marines,
National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Navy, etc.) The
Strategic Plan provides overall guidance for developing and managing
data standards for Facility Management. This plan establishes the
shared vision for FM by outlining the goals, and associated objectives
and strategies to accomplish the standardization of FM data. The FM
Standards will consist of a relational database schema and data
dictionary for data describing the control and reporting of real
property and derived entities that must be considered in its use. This
will be defined by the Core Focus Areas (asset management, civil works
programs, land management and conservation services) and Associated
areas (operations area support, public safety, and communications
support). The FMS Strategic Plan is available on the Center's website:
http://tsc.wes.army.mil/products. The purpose of this Request for
Information (RFI) is to provide this Plan to the FM community (and
particularly the commercial vendors that develop tools to support
Facilities Management) for written comment and recommended
changes/additions. The Center is also seeking information about what
technologies (tools and other capabilities) are available to support
Federal Agencies with Facilities Management responsibilities. Finally,
this RFI is seeking information from potential partners (Federal,
State, and local government agencies, university, industry, and other
organizations) that are interested in working with the Center to
achieve a shared vision of interoperable FM technologies, ...thereby
improving facility management business practices." Written
